EA is preparing three new games for the iPhone and iPod touch that are sure to get a number of on-the-go gamers excited. Some of you might think that you’ve already gotten enough of these titles on other platforms but with the inventiveness that is the touchscreen on these devices, and if you have one of course, most likely you’ll be raring to go on one of them when it’s released.
First up is MONOPOLY Here & Now: The World Edition. The popular board game gets an international twist as street names get traded for world destinations and new tokens are introduced. And while you can still play solo, the options are available to use Pass n’ Play or Wi-Fi modes for up to four players. Other options that make this game version unique and interesting are shaking the handset for rolling dice, in-game chats, token animations and, of course, touchscreen input that allows for flicking, dragging, and zoom.
MONOPOLY Here & Now: The World Edition is due out in November.
Next game up is Need for Speed Undercover which brings one of the best racing series over to the Apple platform. You’ll find familiar elements to the gameplay here with 30 of the world’s fastest cars such as the Porsche Cayman S, Lamborghini Gallardo, Ford Mustang, and the Lotus Elise, plus multiple customization options like suspension, tires and paint. There are eight different game modes including Highway Battle, Sprint and Cop Takeout added on to the story mode but what should really make it stand out are the use of the accelerometer for steering and the touchscreen for boost and other features.
Need for Speed Undercover is due out in December.
Finally, there’s SimCity, the game that puts you in charge of creating an entire city from the ground up. Here, you’ll manage everything from budgets to bulldozers and taxes to tornadoes. You can build a budding metropolis with different types of buildings, utilities, computing centers and much more, but if it gets too out of hand, you can also strike it down with earthquakes and even giant monsters. The unique controls of the device will allow you to pinch and pull to zoom in and out on bright and vibrant 2-D isometric landscape during countless hours of gameplay.
SimCity is also due out in December.
