Judgment Day: War drops you right into the 6-day war that took place in the Middle East between Egypt and Israel sometime in the 60's. I know, most of us weren't even born then, which sort of makes the storyline questionable, but it still makes for a pretty good real-time strategy game.
Simply putting it into that genre isn't enough however, because there's more to the game that makes it quite addicting. First of all, it's very simple to understand and play. Basically, there are sections on the map that entail troop posts. You begin with a certain number of tanks, or helicopters, and all you have to do is overtake those post by sending the troops in.
The strategy comes in with the fact that you can only send half of what your troop count is...so, if you have 10, you can only send 5 at a time. And if the receiving post has 10, then you lose all of your troops sent in, but there are only 5 left at the post. It's simple addition and subtraction.
When you do overtake a post, you can then also start amassing troops there since over time, your troops generate into more, so little by little, you can start overtaking other posts. Of course, the enemy is also in play and they also will be sending in their troops to the post. The winner is whoever can overtake all of the posts in the end. That's pretty much it. Simple, clean and addicting.
There are only nine campaigns to clear, but you can do so with both Egyptian and Israeli perspectives. Additionally, you can purchase eight more U.S.-Vietnam campaigns for $0.99, which is fine since the initial game is also $0.99, though there's a free trial version.
Besides that, Judgment Day: War also offers a Survival mode to test how long you can withstand constant waves. In this additional mode, you can select special bonuses like air strikes, reinforcements, or lower the morale of your opponent. This is a good addition and adds longevity.
One final item the game offers is leaderboards for rankings. This is cool but I was hoping you could actually take on other players online. That would be awesome. Perhaps in a future update, but either way, this game is still fun.
