Family Guy returns with its fourth game (that's right, fourth game) on mobile in a new collection of mini-games that puts the Griffin family into action after the power goes out in Quahog. It's a loosely-knit storyline that at times stretches the believability of the situation, but if you're familiar with the TV show, that's nothing new.
There are seven mini-games to complete featuring Stewie, Peter, Brian, Chris and Quagmire as playable characters. Each of them embarks on their own little adventure, or in Quagmire's case, fantasy, that relives a moment from the show or, in some instances, makes you want to see it in the show. Peter, for instance, fights the Giant Chicken while Stewie and Brian fight for money or go after Stewie's half-brother, Bertram.
A few of these mini-games find their roots in classic arcade games such as Jungle Hunt, for Quagmire's fantasy, or MegaMan in the case of Stewie pursuing Bertram. They are fun and solid at the core yet at times can be a bit frustrating since these are the type that force you to start the level all over again from the beginning if you happen to make a mistake. That is a pain but when you 're talking about a collection of mini-games, I guess you have to make the game last as long as possible by any means necessary. Part of that includes making the mini-games available separately in a different mode and adding three difficulty levels, plus also unlocking game cut-scenes.
The controls vary per mini-game and utilize both D-pad and keypad so it's left on you to choose the preferred scheme given the specific task at hand. For instance, when Chris battles the horde of flying Meg-pigs and confronts the Evil Monkey, the D-pad works best but when Peter fights the Giant Chicken, you must input keypad numbers that are displayed on-screen.
As a Family Guy fan myself, I will say that I enjoyed each mini-game for the most part and chuckled at the humor instilled throughout though I really can't understand why they would subtitle it Uncensored. There's really nothing overtly despicable, except for maybe Stewie beating Brian with a bat, so i'd say that it's way more toned down than the TV show. This makes the game more suitable for a wider audience, not just fans so if you're in the mood for something light and entertaining, check this one out.
